It's when they start making that high pitched and repetitive La La La sound with their throat that you start making a run for it. Interesting entry for your blog. Can you elaborate? Do you actually feel threatened?
actually... the "high pitched and repetitive La La La sound with their throat" is usually made at weddings. It's meant to be an expression of joy, not hostility.
Someone explained to me that it's more like a "Che" thing to most people. Sort of how 9/10 of people you see wearing Che shirts wouldn't identify themselves as socialists.
In general I don't feel threatened. It's a moderate country with a sizable and tolerated Christian minority. It's important when viewing the news that Indonesia is the size and near the population of the United States - so a bombing on one side of the archipelago means little on the other side. Nonetheless, there are reminders of the situation everywhere - a police presence, vehicle searches before they come near the hotel, etc.

Indonesia is only about one fifth the size US by land area. Indonesia is also about a good 25% smaller than the US by population.
yes, but land area doesn't include all the ocean that separates the islands.... :P
Who lives in the oceans though steve? The correct answer is nothing because we've fished it all out.
your packages have finally started trickling in from India. how many did you send?
